Dead couple identified in northern Mississippi shooting
Jul. 24, 2018
CORINTH, Miss. (AP) — Authorities say a husband and wife died in a shooting Sunday in northeast Mississippi.
Alcorn County Sheriff Ben Caldwell on Tuesday identified the dead as 44-year-old Phillip L. Alfred and 37-year-old Tanya Machado Alfred.
Caldwell tells the Daily Corinthian that, when deputies arrived at the home east of Corinth, they found the couple dead of apparent gunshot wounds.
He says it appears to be a "domestic situation," but says officials continue to investigate exactly what happened and have sent evidence to the state Crime Lab in Pearl for analysis.
Names had been withheld pending notification of out-of-state family members.
