Jul. 10, 2018
ATLANTA (AP) — Authorities say a high-speed chase that started on Interstate 85 South ended with a crash that left a Georgia State Patrol trooper with minor injuries.
The agency tells The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the trooper tried to pull over a vehicle for speeding. GSP says the trooper positioned his patrol vehicle to stop, and both crashed Monday night.
According to a statement, the trooper's vehicle slid across Metropolitan Parkway and went airborne into the woods on the south shoulder. The other vehicle spun across Metropolitan Parkway and into the woods on the shoulder.
The trooper was treated for bumps and bruises. A passenger was taken to Atlanta Medical Center after complaining of injuries.
The driver, 48-year-old Tyrone B. Breedlove, is detained at a hospital and faces fleeing and other charges. It's unclear if he has a lawyer.
