SEATTLE (AP) _ Denver quarterback Brian Griese left Sunday's game against Seattle late in the third quarter with a sprained left knee and is not expected to return.

Griese was injured after completing a pass to Rod Smith when Seattle defensive tackle Rocky Bernard closed for the tackle and rolled up on Griese's knee. The Seahawks were assessed a personal foul penalty because officials ruled Bernard was going for Griese's knee.

Steve Beuerlein came in and threw a 1-yard TD pass to Patrick Hape, giving Denver a 17-6 lead on the first play of the fourth quarter.
