SAN FRANCISCO (AP) _ The San Francisco Giants on Wednesday signed pitcher Atlee Hammaker and outfielder Randy Kutcher to one-year contracts.

The Giants also sent shortstop Angel Escobar outright to their Class AAA affiliate in Phoenix.

Hammaker, 29, spent the entire 1986 season on the disabled list due to lingering rotator cuff problems and a mysterious illness that caused a dramatic loss of weight and strength. The left-hander, a National League All- Star in 1983 whose career record is 30-32, said he feels no lingering pain from his arm injury and plans to be in the Giants' starting rotation this season.

He reportedly received a 20 percent pay cut from his 1986 salary of $460,000.

Kutcher hit .237 with seven home runs and 16 runs batted in last year in 71 games.
