2 police officers suspended amid probe of officer's death
Oct. 14, 2015
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Memphis police have suspended two police officers amid an investigation into the death of a third officer.
Police spokesman Louis Brownlee told The Commercial Appeal (http://bit.ly/1RaU8N3) that Darryl Dotson and Timothy Goodwin have been relieved of duty with pay as the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation reviews the death of Martoiya Lang, who was fatally shot in 2012 while serving a warrant.
TBI spokesman Josh DeVine said local prosecutors asked the agency on Oct. 6 to help investigate the case. He said since it's an active investigation he can't provide more details.
Treveno Campbell is facing a murder charge in Lang's death.
Authorities say Lang was killed and another officer was injured when police entered a home where drug trafficking was suspected and those inside opened fire.
