SOMERVILLE, Mass. (AP) — Officials say a busy intersection near Boston is closed after engineers deemed an old Social Security office building under construction unsafe.
The City of Somerville issued a statement Monday saying the facade of the building on Davis Square is receiving structural work. It says Elm Street will be closed to cars between Dover and Grove streets until further notice.
No additional details were available Monday night and The Boston Globe couldn't reach Somerville Mayor Joseph Curtatone for comment..
A Dunkin' Donuts that had been open within the building during construction was closed as of Monday and officers turned away dozens of pedestrians.
