PSV edges Groningen 2-1 to maintain 11-point Eredivisie lead

AMSTERDAM (AP) — Eredivisie leader PSV Eindhoven beat Groningen 2-1 Sunday to maintain its 11-point advantage over second-place Ajax, which easily beat Heerenveen 4-1.
Midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum gave PSV the lead in the 11th minute and Luuk de Jong missed a spot kick just before the half hour before Eric Botteghin equalized for Groningen shortly before halftime. French defender Nicolas Isemat-Mirin scored the winner from a corner in the 66th.
Four-time defending champion Ajax rushed to a 2-0 lead within 11 minutes at Heerenveen through Arek Milik and Davy Klaassen. Defender Joel Veltman scored an own goal to half his team's lead in the 35th but made amends with a goal at the correct end just three minutes later. Milik completed the scoring with his second in the 67th minute.
