LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Two Florida men are in custody after authorities say they found 20 pounds of marijuana in a car following a high-speed chase on Interstate 80 and through Lincoln.
Authorities say the chase started around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday when York County sheriff's deputies clocked the black Nissan Versa going faster than 100 mph on the interstate and tried to pull it over.
They say the car took Nebraska Highway 2 into the city as a state patrol helicopter followed overhead. Authorities say the car ran red lights and broke through construction barriers, and was eventually stopped by spike strips on the highway east of town.
Jason Roberts and Branden Comer were arrested on drug charges. Roberts, the driver, also faces criminal traffic charges. Both men are 31 and had outstanding warrants.
