LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) _ Fullback Damon Hood rushed for two touchdowns and linebacker Duce Williams set up two scores with fumble recoveries in the second half, powering Kentucky to a 35-17 victory over LSU on Saturday night.
Williams came up with his first recovery when Jermaine Sharp fumbled at the LSU 24 with 7:16 remaining in the third quarter.
Kentucky's Moe Williams took a pitch to the LSU 2 on the next play, Hood followed with a 1-yard run and Pookie Jones went over the middle for the touchdown to give Kentucky (4-2, 3-1 Southeastern Conference) a 28-3 lead that LSU (2-5, 1-4) couldn't overcome.
Williams also recovered when David Lafleur lost the ball after catching an 8-yard pass from Jamie Howard at the LSU 24. Seven plays later, Hood bolted in from a yard out to increase Kentucky's lead to 35-10 with 12:26 remaining in the game.
Hood scored his first touchdown on a 16-yard run up the middle, capping an eight-play, 73-yard drive at the start of the third quarter to give Kentucky a 21-3 advantage.
Kentucky, winning three straight conference games for the first time since 1977, went up 7-0 when Jones passed 19 yards to tight end Terry Samuels in the end zone with 13:33 remaining in the half.
On the ensuing possession, LSU mounted a nine-play drive from its 30 to the Kentucky 34. On the 10th play, Howard passed to Robert Davis to the 16, but a holding penalty took the ball back to the 45.
And on the next play, Marcus Jenkins came up with his sixth interception of the season, picking off Howard's pass at the 18 and returning the ball 3 yards.
Kentucky put together a 17-play, 79-yard drive that ended on Moe Williams' 2-yard touchdown run and a 14-0 lead with 1:04 left in the half. Jones passed 16 yards to Tim Calvert and 22 to Alfonzo Browning, and Williams had a 22-yard run to the LSU 3 as Kentucky consumed 7 minutes, 52 seconds.
LSU, which lost 58-3 to Florida last week, didn't get on the scoreboard until Lafleur's 46-yard field goal as time expired at the half.
Howard completed a 20-yard touchdown pass to Eddie Kennison to cut the margin to 28-10 with 2:40 left in the third quarter, and Robert Toomer added a 2-yard TD run with 5:31 remaining in the game for LSU.
