Delaware Teen Crowned Miss Teen USA

SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) _ An aspiring civil engineer from Delaware plans to put college on hold for a year while she fulfills her new role as Miss Teen USA.
``This is a dream come true,'' said Ashley Coleman after being crowned Miss Teen USA 1999 on Tuesday night.
The 18-year-old from Camden, Del., said plans to attend the University of Miami this fall will have to wait. Among her prizes is a $30,000 annual salary a new convertible and a pearl necklace.
Miss Coleman was chosen by a panel of judges in competition with other girls representing 50 states and the District of Columbia.
Miss Louisiana, Sarah Thornhill, 18, was first runner-up and Miss Maryland, Khosi Roy, 17, was second runner-up.
Other finalists were Miss Arizona, Danielle Demski, 17, and Miss Michigan, Sara Marie Dusendang, 18. Other semifinalists were Miss Nevada, Kristen Walthers, 18; Miss Tennessee, Rachel Boston, 17; Miss Texas, Misty Giles, 18, and Miss Virginia, Kristi Glakas, 18.
Carson Daly of MTV's ``Total Request Live'' was host of the pageant, televised live on CBS.
