Chinese Party Leader Meets New Zealand Prime Minister

WELLINGTON, New zealand (AP) _ Prime Minister David Lange and the leader of China's Communist Party began talks Friday which centered on New Zealand's support for a nuclear-free zone in the South Pacific.
Lange said he also would discuss trade matters with Hu Yaobang and propose a transfer of New Zealand technology in livestock breeding and forestry.Hu arrived in New Zealand on Thursday after a-five day visit to Australia.
New Zealand has banned nuclear-powered or nuclear-armed U.S. warships from its ports and supports proposals by other Pacific island nations proposals for a nuclear-free zone in the region.
