Missouri Suspends Reserve Forward
Feb. 01, 2003
COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) _ Missouri forward Jeffrey Ferguson has been suspended for two games for violating team rules.
Ferguson, a 6-foot-10 reserve, will miss Saturday's game against Colorado and Monday's game against Kansas. Ferguson is averaging 2.1 points and 3.1 rebounds a game.
Sam Fleury, Missouri's assistant director of media relations, declined to comment on the specifics of the violation, saying it was an internal issue and not related to any kind of criminal conduct.
Earlier this month, Missouri suspended guard Ricky Clemons after he was arrested and charged with choking a 20-year-old woman at his home. Clemons missed the Tigers' game against Oklahoma State on Jan. 18 before school officials lifted his suspension.
Ferguson's absence leaves the Tigers with only eight scholarship players, including former walk-on guard Ryan Kiernan.
