SAN FRANCISCO (AP) _ The Philadelphia Phillies placed left-hander Randy Wolf on the 15-day disabled list Saturday after he sprained his left ankle on the dugout steps at Pacific Bell Park.

Wolf injured himself on Friday night as the Phillies opened a three-game series against the Giants. Wolf, 6-10 with a 4.50 ERA, had been expected to start Tuesday against San Diego, but now he won't be eligible to return until Aug. 17.

To replace Wolf, Philadelphia recalled prized right-handed prospect Brandon Duckworth from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Duckworth, 13-2 with a 2.63 ERA in 22 starts for the Red Barons this season, leads the International League with 150 strikeouts. He will make his major league debut on Tuesday.
