North Carolina judge grants injunction against local gang
Nov. 17, 2017
WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) — A North Carolina judge has granted a preliminary injunction against two dozen members of a local street gang allegedly tied to homicides, shootings and drug sales.
The StarNews of Wilmington reports the motion approved by a judge in Wilmington on Thursday prohibits gang members from associating with each other, even if no crime is being committed.
The civil complaint was filed Nov. 6 on behalf of New Hanover County District Attorney Ben David and local law enforcement. It alleges 24 members of the Folk Nation 720 Gangster Disciples terrorized a number of neighborhoods, making residents fearful and endangering lives with gun battles.
The injunction orders the defendants not to associate with their co-defendants or any known gang members or recruit new gang members or prevent members from leaving.
