Bruce Bochy, Ron Gardenhire and Jerry Manuel might be managing their sons someday.
The San Diego Padres drafted pitcher Greg Bochy, son of manager Bruce Bochy, in the 36th round of baseball's draft Wednesday. The Minnesota Twins took shortstop Toby Gardenhire, son of manager Ron Gardenhire, in the 38th round. The White Sox drafted second baseman Anthony Manuel, son of White Sox manager Jerry Manuel, in the 48th round.
``I'm happy for Greg,'' Bruce Bochy said. ``I think he's going to be very appreciative of it. It's something to be very proud of.''
The younger Bochy, 22, was picked out of Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo. The Padres also drafted him out of high school in 1997, but he chose college.
The younger Gardenhire, 19, plays for Westark Community College in Arkansas.
``He's earned the right to be drafted,'' Twins scouting director Mike Radcliff said. ``It's not just because Ron's our manager. He has tools.''
