FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) _ Angie Gorton scored eight of her 16 points in the second half and had 11 rebounds as No. 20 Colorado State beat San Diego State 58-49 on Thursday night.
Jasai Ferrucho and Lisa Narkiewicz added 12 points each for Colorado State (14-3, 3-0 Mountain West Conference). The Rams went 22-for-32 from the free-throw line to win their fourth straight game.
Atim Otii had 15 points and nine rebounds for San Diego State (8-7, 0-2), which lost for the fourth time in five games. The Aztecs were held to 36 percent shooting and were 5-for-16 on 3-pointers.
Gorton scored eight points and carried Colorado State for the first eight minutes of the second half as the Rams extended their lead to 44-30.
San Diego State, which shot 29 percent in the first half, got only a layup by Claire Swinbank over the next seven minutes. The Rams widened their lead 52-33 after a short jumper by Narkiewicz with 5:22.
Otii hit her next five shots to pull San Diego State to 56-43 with 2:05 left. Swinbank's 3-pointer with 48 seconds left closed the gap to 56-46, but Ashley Augspurger's uncontested layup finished the Aztecs.
