NEW YORK (AP) _ Treasury bond prices were higher at midday Wednesday.

The price of the Treasury's 10-year note was up 9/32 point, or $2.813 per $1,000 in face value, around midday Wednesday, while its yield fell to 5.18 percent from 5.22 percent late Tuesday. Prices and yields move in opposite directions.

The 30-year bonds were up 1 point and yielded 5.52 percent, down from 5.59 percent late Tuesday.

Yields on three-month Treasury bills fell to 4.94 percent as the discount fell 0.04 percentage point to 4.82 percent. Six-month yields fell at 4.84 percent as the discount fell 0.08 percenttage point to 4.67 percent. One-year yields fell to 4.60 percent as the discount fell 0.05 point to 4.42 percent.

Yields are the interest bonds pay by maturity, while the discount is the interest at which they are sold.
