UNDATED (AP) — The Washington Capitals and the Anaheim Ducks get a chance to exorcise some demons tonight when they wrap up their respective second-round NHL playoff series. The Capitals host the defending Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins, a team they've lost to in three previous Game 7s. And the Ducks take on the Edmonton Oilers in Anaheim, where they have lost Game 7s the past four years.
BOSTON (AP) — The Washington Wizards are in Boston tonight for Game 5 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series. Each team has won its two home games so far. According to ESPN Stats & Info, the winner of Game 5 in an NBA best-of-seven series tied at 2-2 has gone on to win the series 83 percent of the time.
RENO, Nev. (AP) — Nevada coach Eric Musselman has signed a five-year extension through 2021-22 after leading the Wolf Pack to their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2007. Musselman led Nevada to the Mountain West Conference regular-season and tournament titles with a 28-7 mark last season. He's only the second coach in school history to reach at least 20 wins in each of his first two years.
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — College athletes continue to produce record scores in the classroom. The NCAA's most recent Academic Progress Report shows the four-year average in Division I was 981. That's two points higher than last year, and the 12th consecutive record. A perfect score is 1,000. Teams that consistently fall below 930 can face penalties, including postseason ineligibility.
CHICAGO (AP) — The U.S. women's national soccer team will host Brazil, Australia and Japan in the Tournament of Nations to be played in three West Coast cities this summer. The round-robin tournament will feature double-headers in Seattle, San Diego and Carson, California, from July 27 to Aug. 3.
