MERIDIAN, Miss. (AP) — A Mississippi woman who authorities say illegally imported drugs has been arrested.

The Meridian Star reports 44-year-old Lara Collins Beddingfield was taken into custody Monday and charged with possession of a schedule IV controlled substance.

Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics Director John Dowdy says Beddingfield accepted packages from the postal service that contained 500 doses of a foreign version of 50 milligram tramadol.

The arrest was made with the help of several agencies that include the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Postal Service.

It's unclear if Beddingfield has a lawyer.
