SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The Salt Lake City School Board is considering a resolution to affirm that the district does not ask students to disclose immigration status.

The Deseret News reports (http://bit.ly/2nGAUui ) that The Salt Lake City Board of Education is expected to address a resolution on Tuesday that addresses some residents' fears about possible immigration enforcement actions.

The resolution states that the district believes that all children deserve an education and that the district "cannot and does not" inquire about a student's or their parents' immigration status.

Board President Heather Bennett says the resolution doesn't go as far as some people wanted, but it does make clear that district facilities are welcoming to all students and families.
