Cagliari abandons troubled Is Arenas Stadium

CAGLIARI, Sardinia (AP) — Cagliari is abandoning its troubled Is Arenas Stadium with eight rounds remaining in the Serie A.
The club sent a letter to authorities in the town of Quartu on Tuesday saying it was pulling out of its three-year contract to use the stadium, which has been closed to fans for four matches this season due to safety issues.
AC Milan has said it's unfair some clubs faced the home fans while others didn't.
Cagliari President Massimo Cellino remains under house arrest for an ongoing investigation into the construction of Is Arenas involving suspected embezzlement and fraud.
Cagliari moved into Is Arenas this season after leaving its longtime home Stadio Sant'Elia.
The club will likely play its remaining away matches this season at neutral sites like Trieste or Parma.
