PEORIA, Ill. (AP) _ Anthony Parker scored 15 points and Bradley held Drexel to 32 percent shooting in the Braves' 66-53 victory Wednesday in the opening round of the NIT.
Bradley's Braves, winners of four NIT titles, never trailed after Aaron Zobrist's 3-pointer for a 3-2 lead. That started an 11-0 run, but the Dragons recovered and trailed 26-19 at halftime.
The Braves scored the first seven points of the second half to go ahead 33-19 and the Dragons never got closer than seven points after that. The Braves outscored the Dragons 10-5 in the closing three minutes.
Bradley made 19-of-28 free throws down the stretch and finished 28-of-39 at the line. Drexel was only 5-of-9. Bradley shot 41 percent from the field and blocked a season-high 10 shots.
Drexel was paced by Mike DeRoockis with 15 points while Jeff Myers and Joe Linderman added 11 apiece. Chuck Guittar had a game-high 12 rebounds as Drexel had a 44-35 advantage on the boards.
For Bradley, Bayo Akinkunle blocked a career-high seven shots and scored 13 points. Rigby Cameron added 10 points in front of a Carver Arena crowd of 8,277.
