Jetliner Flies Sarajevo to Bosnia
May. 21, 1998
BELGRADE, Yugoslavia (AP) _ An Air Bosnia jet from Sarajevo landed in Belgrade today on the first commercial passenger flight between the Bosnian and Yugoslav capitals in six years.
A Yak 42 plane brought a high-level Bosnian delegation and journalists. They were met by Yugoslav officials.
The last commercial flight between Sarajevo and Belgrade was in May 1992, on the eve of the Bosnian war, which was fomented from neighboring Yugoslavia, now made up of Serbia and Montenegro.
The Yugoslav national carrier JAT plans to start Belgrade-Sarajevo flights next Sunday. For now, there will be one flight a week between the capitals by both companies.
Despite repeated negotiations, Bosnia and Yugoslavia have still not established full diplomatic relations.
