BARTOW, Fla. (AP) — Another man has been sentenced in the fatal 2016 beating of a Florida man.
The Ledger reports 25-year-old Brian Johnson Jr. was sentenced to life in prison Thursday. He was convicted of second-degree murder in April.
Authorities say Johnson, his two brothers and 27-year-old Michael Gunn lured 31-year-old Robert Banks to the Johnsons' Lakeland home in January 2016 after the brothers' mother accused Banks of rape. The two had dated. Prosecutors say the men killed Banks and set his body on fire.
Gun and 22-year-old Anthony Johnson were convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life. The third brother, who was 16 at the time of the killing, was sentenced to 75 years. The brothers' father, 50-year-old Brian Johnson Sr., previously received eight years for helping dispose of the body.
