NAPLES, Fla. (AP) _ John McEnroe avenged an earlier loss to Aaron Krickstein with a 6-3, 6-2 victory in the championship match of the Nuveen Champions on Sunday.
McEnroe overcame a loss to Krickstein on Wednesday with three straight victories, including a win over Pat Cash in the semifinals.
``I was ready. I had some zip to my game. I could feel some good pop to my serve,'' said McEnroe, who had 12 aces. ``It seemed like he wasn't moving quite as well.''
Krickstein complained of groin and hamstring problems in his left leg. McEnroe won the first game at love and was in control throughout.
``It would have been tough to beat him today, even if I was 100 percent,'' Krickstein said. ``It's frustrating to make it to a final and not be completely healthy. That kind of mirrors my whole career.''
