MINNEAPOLIS (AP) _ The Minnesota Vikings signed veteran defensive end Roy Barker on Tuesday after placing rookie defensive end Michael Boireau on injured reserve because of a hand injury.

Barker played for the Vikings from 1992-95. He played 12 games last season for Cleveland and one game for Green Bay.

``He is a player with a lot of experience,'' Vikings coach Dennis Green said, ``and we think he can help us at the defensive end position.''
