COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — A South Carolina military cemetery was missing more than 1,000 wreaths paid for by community donations for a special event.
WIS-TV reports that more than 1,300 wreaths weren't delivered on time for a "Wreaths Across America" ceremony at Fort Jackson National Cemetery.
Organizer Carol Davis told the crowd that gathered Saturday for the event that she was upset and she hoped people would understand.
A Wreaths Across America representative told the television station that a technical failure caused a delivery problem. Davis says she was told that 1,400 wreaths would arrive in Columbia by Thursday.
Wreaths Across America sponsoring wreath-laying ceremonies each December at Arlington National Cemetery and more than 1,200 other locations in the U.S., at sea and abroad.
