Flags ordered at half-staff for victims of Florida shooting

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Gov. Doug Burgum has directed all government agencies to fly the U.S. and North Dakota flags at half-staff out of respect for the victims of the deadly school shooting in Parkland, Florida.
The directive Thursday is in effect until sunset. Burgum encouraged North Dakotans to do the same at their homes and businesses. The governor's office says the directive is in accordance with a proclamation issued by President Donald Trump.
Nineteen-year-old Nikolas Cruz was charged Thursday with 17 counts of premeditated murder following the deadliest school shooting in the U.S. in five years.
