Cheerleader Dies a Week After Van Crash
Mar. 25, 1995
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) _ A Murray State University cheerleader died Friday of injuries received when the squad's van crashed a week ago on the way home from a basketball tournament.
Ginger Adams, 20, of Murray, Ky., was among 12 cheerleaders and a coach injured in the March 18 wreck.
The coach lost control of the van when the tread peeled off the left rear tire, police said.
Three of Adams' teammates were still in the hospital on Friday.
The cheerleaders were returning to Murray State University from Nashville. They had flown in from Tallahassee, Fla., a day after their team lost in the National Collegiate Athletic Association's basketball tournament.
A scholarship fund has been established in Adams' memory at the university.
