Man gets 15 years for making child pornography
Apr. 09, 2014
RUTLAND, Vt. (AP) — Federal prosecutors say a 46-year-old Vermont man is going to prison for 15 years after being convicted of making child pornography.
The Vermont office of the United States attorney says Derek Thomas, of Colchester, was sentenced last week in federal court in Rutland.
Thomas pleaded guilty in December to producing child pornography.
Court records say that in December 2011 a South Burlington police detective discovered that someone at Thomas' address was offering to share child pornography on the internet. Thomas was arrested in March 2012.
Authorities say the investigation found hundreds of images and videos of child pornography on Thomas' computer and that he had posed as a teenage boy to coerce a 12-year-old victim to take sexually explicit videos.
Thomas' attorney did not return a phone call seeking comment.
