May. 15, 1992
NEW YORK (AP) _ Three young men convicted of killing a Utah tourist and robbing his family for admission money to a dance hall were sentenced Thursday to 25 years to life in prison.
Brian Watkins, 22, was fatally stabbed in September 1990 after defending his mother during a robbery on a subway platform. His father was knocked down, slashed across the buttocks and robbed of $200.
Prosecutors said the attackers used the money for admission to a nearby dance hall.
Sentenced were Yull Gary Morales, 19; Anthony Anderson, 20; and Ricardo Lopez, 19. They were convicted in April.
Four other men convicted in December were previously sentenced to 25 years to life. The case of an eighth defendant, Luis Montero, 23, is pending.
