EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) _ Thirty people were arrested as Michigan State basketball fans celebrated the school's weekend victory in the NCAA Final Four semifinals, police said Sunday.

But authorities called the Saturday celebration after Michigan State downed Wisconsin to advance to Monday night's title game calm compared to last year's riot here after the Spartans lost in the college tournament's semifinals.

Last year more than 10,000 people ran through East Lansing after Michigan State lost to Duke in the Final Four. At that time, some rioters overturned cars, set bonfires, broke windows and smashed parking meters. Police eventually arrested 132 people.

East Lansing police Sgt. Ray Hellmann said Sunday his department arrested 26 people and Michigan State campus police another four for misdemeanors ranging from disorderly conduct to indecent exposure and alcohol possession.

Only eight of the people arrested were Michigan State students, Hellmann said.
