LONDON (AP) — British media are reporting that the former owner of Scottish club Rangers has been arrested in London following his detention by police in Mexico.

Britain's Press Association said Thursday that Craig Whyte was held by police at Heathrow Airport and is expected to appear at a court in Glasgow on Friday in connection with an investigation into his takeover of Rangers in 2011.

An arrest warrant was issued two weeks ago for the 43-year-old Whyte, who was detained in Mexico after being refused entry.

Whyte took control of Rangers in May 2011 but the club went into bankruptcy protection the following year.
