SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) _ Intermolecular Inc. (IMI) on Monday reported second-quarter net income of $496,000, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.

The San Jose, California-based company said it had net income of 1 cent per share.

The materials research company semiconductor and clean-energy industries posted revenue of $9.8 million in the period.

For the current quarter ending in October, Intermolecular expects its results to range from a loss of 5 cents per share to a loss of 3 cents per share.

The company said it expects revenue in the range of $6.5 million to $7.5 million for the fiscal third quarter.

Intermolecular expects full-year revenue in the range of $34 million to $36 million.

In the final minutes of trading on Monday, the company's shares hit $1.49. A year ago, they were trading at 95 cents.
