HANOI, Vietnam (AP) _ The government is looking for money to finance a $102 million airport expansion project, official media reported Tuesday.

Originally the government planned to spend about $65 million to expand the capital's Noi Bai International Airport, but the project has since broadened.

The Civil Aviation Department was told the government can no longer fund the entire project and that it must seek financing on its own, the Vietnam News and official Vietnam News Agency reported.

Officials from France's Aeroport de Paris are offering consultant services for the project, which includes a 91,000-square-meter (109,200-square-yard) terminal to annually accommodate 4 million passengers by the year 2000 and 6 million by the year 2005, the newspaper reported.

Earlier the plan had been to build an 80,500-square-meter terminal.

Vietnam expects 2.5 million passengers to go through the airport in 1997, up from 1.5 million in 1995, the Vietnam News said.
