NEW YORK (AP) _ Treasury bond prices were mixed at midday today.

The price of the Treasury's main 30-year bond was up 1/16 point, or 63 cents per $1,000 in face value, around midday, while its yield fell to 5.17 percent from 5.18 percent late Thursday. Prices and yields move in opposite directions.

Yields on three-month Treasury bills fell to 4.60 percent as the discount fell 0.02 percentage point to 4.50 percent. Six-month yields fell to 4.76 percent as the discount fell 0.02 percentage point to 4.60 percent. One-year yields were unchanged at 4.71 percent as the discount held at 4.50 percent.

Yields are the interest bonds pay by maturity, while the discount is the interest at which they are sold.
