MOBILE, Ala. (AP) _ Russell McCutcheon scored 27 points Saturday as South Alabama beat Western Kentucky 92-78 in a foul-studded game.

The Jaguars (12-14, 7-11 Sun Belt Conference) led 29-22 at the half and opened up a 24-point lead with 12:10 left.

By the final three minutes _ when South Alabama starters Mark Neal, Brandon Peterson and Michael Floyd fouled out _ Western Kentucky (13-13, 10-8) had cut the lead to 14, 73-59.

But South Alabama's bench came to the rescue, with replacements Pete Philo, Brian Kincaid and Aaron Williams, hitting 11-of-17 free throws to help the Jaguars hang on.

South Alabama committed 27 foulds; Western Kentucky had 33.

The Hilltoppers could manage only 36 percent shooting for the game. South Alabama finished with a 55 percent shooting game.

Floyd joined McCutcheon in double figures with 18 points. Neal had 16.

Western Kentucky's Rob Williams, who also fouled out, led the Hilltoppers with 14 points.
