RIPLEY, England (AP) _ Some of Britain's leading rock stars were among the 90 people attending the funeral Thursday of Eric Clapton's 4-year-old son, who died last week after falling from a New York City apartment building.

Conor Clapton's coffin was covered by tulips and jasmine during the service at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Clapton's hometown of Ripley, 15 miles northwest of London.

Those attending the funeral included Phil Collins, George Harrison and members of Clapton's current band.

Clapton, in a dark suit and sunglasses, was subdued during the 30-minute service and comforted Italian actress Lori del Santo, 31, the child's mother.

More than 70 wreaths surrounded the burial site, including one in the shape of a guitar in orange chrysanthemums and another in the form of a rocking horse.

Clapton's son died eight days ago after falling from the open window of an apartment on the 53rd floor.

Clapton, 41, requested that instead of flowers, fans should send donations to London's Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in memory of his son.
