CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) _ Allison Curtin scored 28 points, and No. 15 Illinois used a big free throw advantage Saturday to upset No. 6 Notre Dame 77-67.

Curtin, a sophomore guard, made seven of 12 shots and was 14 of 18 from the line. She also had seven rebounds and four steals.

Kylie Martin added 16 points and Susan Blauser had 11 for the Illini (5-1).

Ruth Riley led Notre Dame (1-1), scoring 16 points in just 16 minutes after getting into early foul trouble with two in the first seven minutes. She fouled out in the second half.

Riley scored 10 of Notre Dame's first 12 point as the Irish took a three-point lead. But after she went to the bench, Illinois took off and ran out to a 40-28 halftime lead.

For the game, Illinois was 21 of 37 at the line to 11-of-18 for Notre Dame.
