Vikings Tight End Arrested
Nov. 21, 2000
WAYZATA, Minn. (AP) _ Minnesota Vikings tight end John Davis was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving after police found him asleep in his car in the middle of a county road in this Minneapolis suburb.
Davis was arrested about 4 a.m. Monday when officers responded to a tip from a snowplow driver. They found him in the car with the engine running, Police Chief Kevin Kelleher said.
Davis was booked and released without bail. He refused a breath test but was cooperative, Kelleher said.
Davis' agent, Mark Alexander Balic, confirmed that his client was stopped by police but said he wasn't aware of an arrest.
``John told me that he was out late at night and he was tired and pulled to the side of the road and fell asleep, which we all probably have done,'' Balic said. ``John said there's nothing else to it.''
Davis, in his fifth NFL season and first with the Vikings, has 16 receptions for 199 yards and one touchdown this season. He caught three passes for 28 yards in the Vikings' 31-17 win over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.
