Three Expos Have Surgery

MONTREAL (AP) _ Montreal Expos catcher Chris Widger, reliever Guillermo Mota and outfielder Peter Bergeron all underwent arthroscopic surgery on Friday.
All three procedures were performed by orthopedic surgeron Dr. Larry Coughlin at St. Mary's Hospital.
Jeff Cox, manager of the triple-A Ottawa Lynx, also had arthroscopic surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff and labrum in his right shoulder.
Widger, 28, had a slight miniscus tear repaired in his left knee. Mota, 26, had a bone spur removed from his right elbow, and Bergeron, 21, had repairs to a slight labrum tear in his right shoulder.
Left-hander Ted Lilly is scheduled to have arthroscopic surgery on his left shoulder on Oct. 20.
