First Fidelity Acquires The Savings Bank Of Rockland County

Undated (AP) _ The First Fidelity Bancorporation said Thursday it had acquired The Savings Bank of Rockland County for $5.85 million in cash.
Stockholders will receive $9 in cash for each share of the privately-held Spring Valley, N.Y.-based bank, the company said.
The Savings Bank, which has $169 million in deposits and more than 26,000 accounts, is being merged into First Fidelity Bank, N.A., New York, a subsidiary of Lawrenceville, N.J.-based First Fidelity.
