CLEVELAND (AP) _ A Russian figure skating coach has died from massive brain and chest injuries she sustained in a car crash Dec. 5.
Svetlana Korneitchenko, 37, died Wednesday, MetroHealth Medical Center spokesman Jim Gosky said. She had been on life support since the accident.
Korneitchenko was driving home through the Cleveland suburb of Strongsville when her car spun on ice and hit a mailbox and a tree. Friends said she was not wearing a seat belt and was pinned under the car.
Korneitchenko and her husband, Dmitri, moved to Ohio in 1994 from St. Petersburg and began to coach young skaters. The couple met when they were pairs skaters, with other partners, in Russia. The Korneitchenkos had toured with Walt Disney on Ice.
