Jets-Jaguars Delayed by Turf Tear
Oct. 12, 1999
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) _ The game between the Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Jets was delayed for about eight minutes Monday night because of a tear in the artificial turf, which is scheduled to be replaced next year by grass.
The turf was torn with 3:56 left in the third quarter when Jaguars' running back James Stewart tore up a piece when making a cut during a 9-yard run at the Jets' 45-yard line.
The Jets, along with the Giants and the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority, have agreed to replace the turf for next season.
