SAN DIEGO (AP) _ The San Diego Padres recalled right-handed pitcher Buddy Carlyle from Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday.

Carlyle joins the Padres for the second time this season. He did not appear in his first stint from May 1-4.

Carlyle was 8-6 with a 4.29 ERA in 27 starts at Las Vegas.

If Carlyle appears in a game, he will become the 55th player to play for San Diego this season, besting the National League record the team shares with the New York Mets (1967) and Philadelphia (1996).
