Marbury To Undergo MRI
Apr. 05, 2000
WASHINGTON (AP) _ New Jersey Nets guard Stephon Marbury will miss Wednesday night's game against the Indiana Pacers so he can undergo an MRI exam on his injured left knee.
It will be the first game missed this season by Marbury, who has been hampered by tendinitis in his left knee for the past three weeks.
He had 13 points and four assists, shooting 5-for-14 from the field and 0-for-3 from 3-point range, in a 102-93 loss to the Washington Wizards on Tuesday night.
``If it's anywhere close to damaged, he will not play for me. I will not play him,'' Nets coach Don casey said. ``He's worked too hard for this franchise and his teammates to come up lame.''
Marbury will undergo the MRI exam Thursday.
The Nets are close to being eliminated from postseason contention. The loss to the Wizards dropped them 6 1-2 games behind eighth-place Orlando pending the outcome of the Magic's game against San Antonio later Tuesday. The Nets have only eight games remaining.
