Sheets, Ramirez Ejected
Apr. 17, 2002
MILWAUKEE (AP) _ Brewers pitcher Ben Sheets and Pirates third baseman Aramis Ramirez were ejected in the top of the third inning Wednesday after dugouts cleared.
Sheets' first pitch to Ramirez hit the batter. Ramirez charged the mound, threw his batting helmet at Sheets and took a couple wild swings.
Richie Sexson, Milwaukee's 6-foot-8 first baseman, wrestled Ramirez to the ground as benches and bullpens emptied. Several players ended up in a pile in the infield.
In the bottom of the second inning, Pittsburgh starter David Williams hit Milwaukee's Geoff Jenkins with a pitch. Jenkins had words with Williams as he walked to first base.
