Colo. St., So. Miss in Liberty Bowl

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) _ Colorado State on Monday was selected to play Southern Mississippi in the Liberty Bowl in Memphis, Tenn., on Dec. 31.
The Rams stumbled early, but finished with an 8-3 overall record, including 5-2 in the Mountain West Conference. On Saturday, Colorado State wrapped up the season with a 35-17 victory over Nevada-Las Vegas.
Colorado State, Utah and Brigham Young were tied with 5-2 conference records. Each team won one and lost one against the other two. The Rams won out because they defeated Wyoming, while both BYU and Utah lost to Wyoming.
