SYDNEY, Australia (AP) _ A Sydney man was charged with stealing an Olympic boxer's accreditation pass after the real owner discovered the man sitting next to him at an event.

Police said Saturday (Friday night EDT) that the unidentified Australian boxer spotted the 27-year-old man sitting next to him at a women's basketball game at the SuperDome.

When the man noticed he was sitting next to the real owner of the pass, which had a picture of the Olympian on it, he immediately fled from the arena.

After a short chase, the pass owner and members of the Australian judo team apprehended the man. The man, who also was not identified by police, will appear in Burwood local court on Oct. 19.

The pass disappeared from a gym inside the Village Plaza on Sept. 25, police said.
