LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) _ Cardell Butler scored 23 points to lead No. 24 Utah State to a 67-47 victory over Long Beach State on Thursday night, the 49ers' seventh straight loss.
Butler, who scored nine of the Aggies' first 10 points, went 8-for-8 from the free throw line. He also had three 3-pointers and six rebounds. Utah State was 15-of-17 from the foul line.
Utah State (23-2, 15-1 Big West), which was 15-for-17 from the free throw line, has won 21 of its last 22 games.
Kevin Roberts and Marcel Jackson each had 10 points for the 49ers (6-18, 4-11).
Spencer Nelson's layup capped Utah State's 15-0 run late in the second half.
Long Beach tied the game on Kevin Robert's layup at 33-33 with 17:09 left, but the Aggies went on a 6-0 run.
The 49ers then scratched within 39-38 when Lucian Graham drained a 3-pointer, but Utah State scored the next nine points.
Long Beach led for most of the game's first 8 minutes, but Mark Brown's jumper gave the Aggies a 12-10 lead with 12:10 remaining in the half. Utah State led 29-23 at halftime.
